Advisory Council for Academic Innovation

The Advisory Council for Academic Innovation (ACAI) at the University of Mississippi Medical Center is a strategic, cross-disciplinary group of educators, instructional leaders, and technologists representing each of UMMC's schools. The ACAI serves as a cross-school collaborative that advises the Office of Academic Innovation on emerging trends, technologies, and strategies to advance excellence in teaching, learning, and educational transformation at UMMC. Through collaborative dialogue and institutional insight, ACAI supports the Office of Academic Innovation in advancing excellence in teaching and learning, ensuring UMMC remains a leader in health professions education. The committee's charge is to advise, inform, and champion academic innovation through thoughtful exploration of emerging academic technologies, artificial intelligence, and evidence-based teaching practices. The committee supports the Office for Academic Innovation in advancing excellence in teaching and learning across each of UMMC's schools.

The Office for Academic Innovation provides support in the following areas:

  • Learning Management System (Canvas) Oversight and Optimization
  • Instructional Innovation and Faculty Support
  • Academic Technology and Digital Tools Integration
  • Ethical and Strategic Use of Artificial Intelligence in Education
  • Quality Matters Oversight
  • Digital Credentialing Oversight
  • Policy Development and Strategic Planning for Digital Education
